Hear Here - an opportunity to collaborate

(download)
Ric Lipson, a former UCL/Bartlett architecture student and now working with Mark Fisher on such things as the design and production of the World Cup opening event and the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in Delhi, has a fabulous project and a brilliant opportunity for a new creative collaboration.

His ‘building’ is an acoustic space that explores the sonic environment around it, and could, with the right creative partners, become an active participant in the soundscape it is part of.  I spent time with Ric and the piece and made a short film about it.  Have a look.

The piece is currently at the Central School of Speech and Drama (http://www.cssd.ac.uk/) as part of the Theatre Collaboration between CSSD and Unit 23 of UCL Bartlett (http://bit.ly/Unit23) , which also has the support of the Mark Fisher Studio (www.stufish.com).

What next?

Ric's work will be in place at CSSD until 3/4 July when it will be dismantled and transported into storage in Manchester.  It seems to me that such a marvellous space should be in use somewhere.  Somewhere in Manchester?  It would make a fabulous performance space for music and drama; a striking public installation.  I'm giving it some thought - and I know Ric will welcome ideas.
